Endoscope repairs - Althea's active contribution to sustainability & environmental protection

Althea proves that the company is aware of its great responsibility towards the environment and future generations. As a renowned manufacturer of high-quality endoscopy devices, the company offers its sustainable and cost-effective endoscope repair service for surgeries, doctors and medical supply stores.

With an in-house laboratory in Germany, Althea sets standards in terms of quality, safety and sustainability. Long before the EU directive on the “right to repair” came into force, Althea played a pioneering role and has been offering customers endoscope repair as a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new device since 1997.

While many service providers carry out endoscope repairs abroad, Althea consistently carries out all repairs at the company site in Germany. This avoids additional environmental pollution caused by unnecessary transportation and strengthens Germany as a business location.

Thanks to the experience gained from developing their own endoscopes, the trained specialists in the repair laboratory are able to identify defective components better and faster so that they can be replaced instead of replacing entire assemblies. This is not the only reason why Althea's endoscope repair service has made a name for itself as a particularly cost-effective alternative. Because even if an endoscope repair is no longer economically viable, the company offers a cheap alternative to purchasing a new one: repair replacement with refurbished devices including warranty. Lower costs and ecological benefits compared to purchasing new equipment are reasons for many customers to make their contribution to greater sustainability in the industry.

Althea Germany also pursues an ecologically sustainable company philosophy outside the endoscope repair workshop. For example, an efficient photovoltaic system on the modern company building supplies the electricity for the company premises, offices and, last but not least, environmentally friendly electric cars in the company's fleet. The employees' close ties to the company mean that they are also increasingly paying attention to reducing their ecological footprint, for example by leaving their cars at home and cycling or walking to work whenever possible.

“Repair instead of throw away” has been Althea's motto since 1997. In doing so, the company is not chasing a trend or a directive from Brussels. Rather, Althea is a pioneer in showing that environmental protection and the careful use of resources through commitment and innovation are perfectly compatible with economic interests.
