Are used devices refurbished?
Every single used device is overhauled, thoroughly inspected and tested by our specialist workshop before being sold or hired out. This includes endoscopes, processors, light sources, ultrasound probes and the corresponding accessories. This means that we can always guarantee you high-quality, used medical equipment that is in no way inferior to new equipment.
Does Althea offer advice on used endoscopes?
Of course! We will be happy to advise you on our used endoscopes and provide you with several devices to choose from. Your customer advisor will help you select the right equipment for your needs. Feel free to contact us at any time. Our service team will answer all your questions about our products and services and provide you with a customised quote.
Can I rent an endoscope?
We are happy to offer you the opportunity to rent endoscopes. Our service for rental devices depends on availability, the rental period and the desired endoscope. Please contact us if you are interested in renting an endoscope.
Does Althea offer advice and information on loss prevention?
A work shadowing session at your premises is possible at any time by arrangement with your personal account manager. This service is free of charge for our customers as part of a corresponding contract!
What characterises Althea as a service provider for endoscope repair?
25 years of experience in endoscope repair and our manufacturer status give us special expertise, which is reflected in the high quality of our repairs. Our consistently outstanding quality management also ensures that we fulfil all legal requirements above and beyond the strict guidelines for certification as a manufacturer of medical endoscopes.

In general, our entire team is always available to help you with your concerns. If you are already our customer, please get in touch with your personal contact person directly. Mr. Weigert is responsible for the North/East region, while inquiries from the South/West region should be addressed to Mr. Strobel.

Questions about the repair service
For which manufacturers and endoscopes does Althea offer repairs?
We offer comprehensive endoscope repair for all well-known manufacturers in every endoscopic field. Our many years of experience allow us to offer our customers a wide range of different repair services. Please feel free to contact us at any time for manufacturers and products not listed.
Are original spare parts used for the endoscope repair?
When repairing endoscopes, we use original spare parts depending on availability and cost-effectiveness. In general, we only use spare parts that comply with the strict European standard DIN EN ISO 13485:2021 (quality management system for medical devices). The risk assessment is carried out in accordance with internationally recognised standards (see EN ISO 14971:2019 and MDR 2017/745/EU, in particular Art. 23).
Will I receive a loan device during the endoscope repair?
Our customers have a large selection of over 200 loan devices at their disposal, which we will leave to you for the entire duration of the repair if you wish. As a rule, these are identical devices so that you can carry out your examinations without additional expense. If this is not possible, we will provide you with a compatible device that has as many identical functions as possible after mutual consultation.
How do I get my loan device?
If you require a loan device for the duration of the repair, we will send it to you by express delivery as soon as possible after consultation.
How can I send my endoscope to Althea for repair?
As soon as we have received your order and all the necessary data (manufacturer, appliance type, SN and processor), we will send you a freight label. The authorised forwarding agent will then take care of collecting your devices as quickly as possible.
Is Althea approved by the manufacturer for endoscope repair?
Professional endoscope repair does not require separate authorisation from the respective manufacturer. We fulfil the strict requirements of § 7 MPBetreibV (Medical Device Operator Ordinance). According to this regulation, only companies that have the expertise, the prerequisites and the necessary resources to carry out this task properly may be authorised to service medical devices.
How is Althea certified for endoscope repair?
Althea is certified as a specialised company for the repair of medical devices in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13485:2021 and ISO 14971 risk management for spare parts. As a manufacturer, we provide particularly high-quality endoscope repairs and incorporate our many years of experience into our service.
Is there a guarantee on the endoscope repair?
As a repair service provider, Althea guarantees all work carried out for a period of 6 months from delivery of the repaired endoscopes.
How long does the endoscope repair take?
Depending on the scope of the maintenance work, a repair takes 5 to 10 working days (plus transport). We process your order as soon as we have received your devices and send your endoscopes back to you immediately after repair and inspection by our specialist staff.
